the 4th in Idaho

We headed out for our yearly vacay in Idaho on July 3.  We tried something new this year and drove through the night.  It worked really good.  It makes the drive a lot better.  Instead of 2 long days, it's just one night.  Jer and I take turns and it wasn't so bad.  I think the key was going on the morning of the 4th.  There was no construction and hardly any traffic.  And the kids slept really good.

We got to Idaho Falls around noon.  We went down by the river later in the afternoon and walked around.  The falls are so pretty.

The kids found this cute horse bench.  Here they are with Jer's cousin's son, McKay.
Aunt Cindy and her family had a hotel down by the river.  We went and swam for awhile and had all sorts of treats.  Then watched the fireworks.  In all my years of trekking to IF on the fourth this was the first time I've seen the fireworks there.  We had a pretty good view and they were fun to watch.  The kids did great and we only  had a minor crises when Jeremy thought he lost the van keys.  Luckily they were found in the bottom of our beach bag.  Which of course is always the case.
