Running Club

This year I decided to start a running club at the kids' school.  I was thinking there would be 25-30 kids.  I was surprised when we averaged around 45 kids at the early morning practices.  We had practice Monday and Thursday mornings at 7:45am.  The kids were so great and it turned out to be a lot of fun.  I also had quite a few parents help out too which made it really nice.
It was a great experience. And despite my dislike of working with kids that aren't my own, I had a great time.  The school has a trail that loops around the park right next to it so we would run around that and then work on running skills.  And we finished up each practice with a game of tag or sharks and minnows.
We ran in The Return of the Turkey Trot.  It was 2.5 miles.  Price ran it in about 20 min. Brynlee in about 23 and Little Miss Kylee ran the whole way and finished in about 26 min.  So proud of these kids of mine.

Halloween

Halloween is a week long celebration for these kids.  They have trunk or treat at the church and at the school and then trick or treating in our neighborhood.

Brynlee is a cat, Kylee a mouse
Price is Rocket Raccoon from Guardians of the Galaxy.
Price and Denver went trick or treating on their own this year in our neighborhood.  It's hard to think how fast he is growing up.  I wish he could stay little forever.

Carving Pumpkins

As a family we ran in the St. John the 23 Pumpkin Festival race.  Jeremy and I ran the 5k and the kids ran the mile.  Jeremy was less than 5 seconds off of his goal.  So frustrating!  But we had a great time.  I love this race for 2 reasons: 1-the kids get a free pumpkin for doing the race and 2-the give pumpkin bars after the race.

We spent a family home evening carving and painting the pumpkins.  They did it mostly on their own too.

Indian Creek Nature Center

The kids had a random day off from school so we headed out to Indian Creek Nature Center to get outside and enjoy the day.  It was sunny but a little bit chilly but we still had fun.  We took little Denver with us too.
They built structures and played the outdoor musical instruments.

We hiked along the nature trail and along the river.  It was so beautiful.

After we stopped by Casey's and had a treat.  The Hodson kids love a trip to the gas station for a treat.

random pics

Brynlee rarely lets me comb/do her hair.  So this is a momentous occasion.
Who knows why they took this pic or what Kylee is doing.  Probably having a fit or something.
For the General Women's Broadcast we got all dressed up and went to dinner.  And guess who we ran into?  Jeremy and Price on their boy's night.  The Hodsons love Wendy's and when we have night's out that is where you will find us.  After dinner the girls went to the church for ice cream and then watched the Broadcast.  It was wonderful and I love going with my girls.

Kylee turns 6

Kylee is the last birthday of the year in our fam and by the time it's her turn I am a bit burned out.  School had just started back up too but I wanted her to have a fun day.  So we through together a swim party with friends and I think it turned out great.
Liah came and painted faces, they had a water fight and played in the sprinkler, ate treats and had fun.

Kylee has some awesome friends.  We love this girl!

 With all her loot.
She wanted a unicorn cake, but it looks more like a moose with a horn or a moosicorn as we called it.  But she loved it and it was delicious.
 Such a happy girl

Back to School

Back to school with this crew.  Trying to get a serious face out of any of them is a chore.  So why not capture their personalities instead.  Love these kids of mine.  Price-5th grade with Mr. Fritz, Brynlee-3rd grade with Mrs. Humes, Kylee-1st grade with Mrs. Wertz.

I'm not going to lie, it's great having them all in school at the same school.  Getting them there in the morning is sometimes a challenge but I love these kids to bits.  We started the year off by walking to and from school.  It was great.  It gave us a chance to talk and work on spelling words and just relax and be together.

Road Races and Piano Recital

Jeremy and I ran in the St. Jude's Corn Festival Race in August.  Jeremy of course rocked it and got a medal.  He has set a goal of trying to get under 20 minutes.  He has worked so hard but is yet to achieve his goal.  I'm still so proud of him and his continued diligence in trying to reach this goal.
I've been teaching my kids piano for a few years now but earlier this year I also started teaching Cassidy and Emily Richards piano.  We decided to have an end of summer recital to show off all their hard work.  They all did a great job and I am so proud of all they have achieved.
After the recital we went to Freddy's and had some ice cream.  It was a great night and these kids are awesome!

Bryn's baptism

Bryn's baptism was a great day.  She was so excited.  Kylee said the opening prayer.  Price gave the talk on Baptism.  Jeremy baptized and confirmed her.  Denver and Grandpa were the witnesses.  Grandma Price gave the talk on the Holy Ghost and Eliza gave the closing prayer.  Grandma Artice led the music.
