Another beautiful day

It was another warm and loverly day here in Southern Utah. We were able to go to the park a couple of times and the kids helped Grandpa get some yard work done. I was just glad that it was them and not me doing it. Jeremy has to stay here another week so we aren't coming home as soon as expected. But I looked at the weather in CR and it looks cold so I'm not complaining about staying another week.

My dad is a morning person. That is probably an understatement, because he is way too happy way too early in the morning. It used to drive me crazy when I lived at home because I am so not a morning person. Anyway the other morning my dad was sitting at the table doing his nebulizer and talking in a funny voice saying "just sitting here smoking my hookah". I just had to laugh and roll my eyes. I'm going to love when Price goes to school and says "my grandpa smokes a hookah". Real appropriate considering he's in the Stake Presidency. But that's just my dad and his crazy sense of morning humor.

I think I may listen to the radio a little too loudly in the van when driving around. The other day we were driving back from library story time and the radio was on, but just barely. I could hear Billy Currington's "that's how country boys roll" on, it's a good song that I usually crank up and sing along to. Well, I guess I must do it a lot because I hear from the backseat from Brynlee "That's how country boys roll", singing along perfectly. She's such a silly girl, but she made me realize I really need to be careful about what I listen to in the van.

Embarassment

So Jeremy is officially embarassed of his family (meaning me and the kids). The bank that he is working at is having their Grand Opening this Thursday. They are having free food, give aways and that Mormon guy from Diamond Rio. I suggested (jokingly) that I would bring the kids and come on down. You should have seen the look on his face. It was the look you get when your parents show up at high school telling you that you forgot your lunch. Now knowing that we humiliate him makes me want to go even more and make a huge scene. I didn't get these kids all on my own buddy!
In other news, we had a great weekend with Jeremy's family. We got to see his mom, 2 sisters, uncle and the kid's cousins. We had fun going to Jumpin' Jacks and hanging out with the family. The highlight for Price and Bryn was driving Grandpa Gerber's Jazzy around the back patio. At this rate Price may never get a driver's license. He doesn't like to look where he is going and he runs into people and the house.
Today was one of the best days here. My mom and I took the kids to Cafe Rio for lunch. We had the coconut shrimp tacos and they were delish! They had this warm mango salsa on them...SO good. I think we may have to go again next Tuesday (they were the daily special). Then this afternoon I went and got a massage. It was relaxing and I really appreciate my mom watching the kids and making such an effort to make sure I have a fun vacation.

Vacation

We've been having so much fun that I haven't had time to post. I'll have to add pictures later. I must say that it sure has been nice seeing the sun so much. It rained a little today, but now the sun is out and it is a beautiful day. Sorry to my Iowa friends that are getting snow; sure glad I'm not there. Some of our highlights this week have included
*Eating Pork Barbacoa Tostada at Cafe Rio. Super yummy! I could eat it everyday.
Plus the guy who cleans off the tables complimented me on my haircut.
*Got my haircut and now look like Shaun White the gold medal winning snowboarder.
*Kids got pink eye, but are doing better with their eye drops. Brynlee is brave and doesn't cry. I had to threaten Price that if he didn't let me put them in he would lose his eye and never get to play baseball. That only slightly works.
*Kylee waking up every 45 minutes all night. Somehow Jeremy can sleep through all this and asks in the morning how many times she was up. I about socked him.
*Was told I look like a polygamist's wife and need to update my wardrobe and haircut (this was before the Shaun White do). So now I guess I need (or have a good excuse) to get some new clothes. Don't you love how honest my family can be?
*Playing outside at the park. I LOVE being outside. Brynlee was so cute about sharing the sand toys with the other kids.
*Went to Jumpin Jacks with our Hodson cousins. Then to In and Out Burger for the first time. Good burgers yucky fries.
*Went to RS with my mom and learned some new fun recipes. Can't wait to get home to make granola, granola bars and homemade yogurt. I'm gonna save a ton (hopefully).
*Found my dream house while on the Parade of Homes, now we just need to find Jeremy a job...No, we'd miss Iowa too much if we left.
*So fun having grandparents around that play with the kids (and change poopy diapers).
*Watching the Olympics every night eating yummy cheesy popcorn made by grandpa.
*Raspberry concretes from Nielsen's Frozen Custard.
*Brynlee's first haircut. My little girl is getting so big! But it looks so much better, not so scraggly anymore. So nice having a grandma that is multitalented.

A Long Drive

We finally made it to St. George after 2 1/2 days of driving and 1500 miles. It went really well, but I am glad we are here. I'm trying to type this on my parent's ergonomical keyboard and it is turning out to be harder than I thought. But here are the highlights of our trip thus far:
* eating at the Golden Corral in Lincoln. You'd think I'd hate it after working there, but it has become one of our family traditions. We stop there and meet our friends the Laybourns and the food is so good. They have the best rolls with honey butter and the pot roast was delish!
* At our hotel Brynlee saw some girls(about 8 or 9 yrs old) coming out of the pool and was so cute, she kept saying "hi girls, hi girls" and waving. Normally she is so shy, but this was so cute and unexpected of her.
* Unlimited hot water at the hotel. I love taking LONG hot showers, but it never lasts long at home. But at our hotel I could take a shower as hot and as long as I wanted. I could get used to that!
* I-70 through Colorado lived up to its reputation. It was a snowy mess going over the mountains through Vail. Luckily Jeremy is a great driver in bad conditions, now if he could just improve on the normal condition driving.
*Another night in a hotel. Brynlee again seeing little girls in the pool and wanting to play with them. But I'm sure they just thought she was weird. She loves playing with older girls.
* We stopped in Richfield, Utah and saw my high school/college BFF Trixie (obviously her nickname) and her fam. Her daughter Hallie is a crack up, a spitten image of her mother. She has the facial expressions down and everything. We also got to see Trixie's mom and sister. We love the Munns family, they are a fun family (I love that song Trix!)
*Finally made it here with minimal crying and not going insane. How many times can we watch our Scooby Doo movie on the way here? About 6 or 8 times. Luckily the kids don't mind if they can't hear it too well.

We also discovered that anyplace is warmer than CR. Even Nebraska was warmer and had less snow. Now we just hope by the time we get home that spring will be on its way to Iowa.

Snow Day and sickness

Price went to school on Monday, I wasn't sure if he should but I think he would have had a fit if I'd kept him home. By the time he got home he was exhausted. I put on a movie for him and he fell asleep. Although looking at this picture you wouldn't be able to tell it. He's done this ever since he was a baby. It used to freak me out, but now it's just funny. It'll be a valuable skill in high school and college.

We got lots of snow Monday night and school was cancelled for Tuesday. I'm glad because I think I would have kept him home anyway so now he didn't have to miss. But of course Jer got stuck down in Burlington so I was on my own to shovel and take care of all these wild ones. I think we've all gotten sick, but are slowly recovering. Brynlee and I probably have it the worse, but I think another good night's sleep and we'll feel better. Now I'm just trying to finish up all the loose ends before we leave on Friday for our warm weather getaway. The forecast for our vacation says it should be in the 60's next week. Wahoo! Sun, here I come!

Little Jillian

I think I've been doing my Jillian Body Shred workout too much. Today I decided to do it on my own and listen to satellite radio on the TV while doing it. Well, as I was working out I hear Brynlee and she is saying what Jillian would be saying. I was doing this one move and she's saying "Bend and press, bend and press". So I guess I don't need to hear Jillian telling me to go, I have litte Bryn.

Monday, YUCK!

Another weekend has come and gone and it is another Monday where I am slow going.

Friday I took Price to the dr. and found out he had croup. Yeah! But by Friday night he was feeling a lot better, even if he didn't sound like it. He was back to bugging his sister and trying to trip me. We did miss a movie night at school and some playdates, but we were able to relax and hopefully we will be rid of any sickness soon.
It's hard to believe this big cutie is 5 months old today. She is so happy and easy going. She has a little bit of a cold right now, but still laughs and smiles all the time.

Kylee started eating vegetables this weekend. On Saturday night I was making dinner and Jeremy fed her. I looked over and saw this cute picture, Jer and his girls. He is a great dad to his girls. It must come from all that practice with his 5 sisters. They are both their daddy's girls. Brynlee wakes up in the morning and comes looking for him and today he was gone and I just was not good enough. They love their dad and all that he does for them.

Price had his hat on like this the other night and he just reminded me so much of Jer when I first met him. He LOVES his John Deere hat and will not go anywhere without it.

Luckily you can't see the crusted snot on her lip. She has a little bit of a cold right now. Now if I could just keep her in warm clothes, but she insists on wearing her shorts and t-shirt jammies. At least she'll wear socks, but I finally did have to hide her swimsuit. I may dig it out once the weather is above freezing, but for now it stays hidden.

On Saturday I went to a movie (another Christmas present from Jer). I went and saw Dear John and when the movie had about 15-20 minutes left it suddenly stopped. You don't want to mess with a theatre full of women at a chick flick! They weren't able to fix it and so I have no idea how the movie ends. I did read the book awhile ago, but I can't remember how it went. I did get a refund ticket, but I can't decide if I want to go see it again or use it for another movie. A friend saw it and said the ending was lame, so maybe I'll just wait until it comes out on Redbox. I told Jer it was like your TV going out in the last quarter of the Super Bowl, but he didn't think that was a very good analogy. So hopefully one day I'll figure out the ending.

On Sunday our ward had a special fast for a lady who was diagnosed with cancer recently and given only 3 to 6 months to live. Both she and her husband got up and bore their testimonies and it was so interesting to see their perspectives. She said she was grateful for this time that she has had to prepare for her death and be able to get things done like funeral arrangements and giving heirlooms to her children. He husband talked about how death is a part of life and how she has lived a great life and how she will be moving on to the next stage of her progression and what a blessing that can be. I was so amazed by their faith and what great people their are. It was a great sacrament meeting, but then again I was alone so maybe it was because I was actually able to listen.

After my great church experience I came home and found out a lady from the Stake Relief Society Pres. had called me. That can never be a good sign. Well, she asked me to do a class at the Stake Women's Symposium in April. I blame this all on my sister, Kristin, who is friends with this woman. So now I get to think (i.e. stress out) about what I am going to present. My topic is about nutrition and fitness. Hopefully it will work out, I just don't want to sound preachy or anything.

Now another week to make it through. Jeremy is out of town and we are leaving Friday to go to Utah. This morning started off rough. I was short with Price on the way to school. He was trying to wear his backpack and put his seatbelt on. It was just not working and so I was less than patient with him. His face was so sad; poor kid doesn't feel great and I'm being short with him. Then he forgot his shoes and I felt guilt ridden so I went home and got them for him. I hope we've hit all the speed bumps for the week and now things can go a little more smoothly.

B-day parties and the croup

Price got invited to his first "school friend" birthday party this week. It was the first time he's gone to a party where we really don't know the kid or his family. Up until now he's only gone to family parties or people from our ward, so this was something new for us. Here he is holding the present and yet again making a crazy face. I will one day look on this with fondness I'm sure.

I think he gets his craziness from his dad. When we were engaged I wanted to take some pictures of us to put on the tables at our wedding lunch. I was trying to do some cute ones of us and Jer just kept making faces and playing around. It made me so frustrated, but now I admit they turned out cute and it really shows Jer's personality.
So the party was at the Ice Arena. So I made Jeremy go and stay with Price and of course they forgot the camera and any other details of the party. It's like trying to get top secret info out of those two. I guess there was pizza and cake and then ice skating. Price fell once, but other than that who knows what happened.

Yesterday Price woke up with a frog in is throat and when he came home from school he voluntarily took a nap. Which, if you know Price, is so not like him. He's always the first one up in the morning and going to bed he always begs to stay up for 5 more minutes. I debated whether or not to send him to the party, but he didn't have a fever and his voice was a little hoarse. Of course when he got home he was wheezing and coughing. I took him to the dr. today and he has croup. I cringe everytime he coughs, it sounds so painful. Hopefully he'll be feeling better soon. He's got some meds and some pop (I'm such a sucker for sick kids I pretty much cave to any request).
Today I had a full day planned. But isn't that how life goes? I am very grateful that I can stay home and take care of my kids and hopefully we can reschedule some of our playdates for another time.

Tattlers

We have some serious issues with tattling going on lately. It mostly has to do with name calling. Lately the two oldest have been calling each other "Baby" and that is like the worst thing ever. They both do it to each other and they both get so upset when they are the one being called a baby. The kicker was the other day they were watching a movie and I was in my room reading/taking a nap when Brynlee comes in and says, "Mom, Price called me a big muffin". Seriously? Then a few minutes later it was "Mom, Price called me a big banana". I think maybe they need to do some serious manual labor or something before they drive me nuts.

As much as Price dishes it out he is usually our #1 tattler. He likes to say "Brynlee's biting me". Which she usually isn't, but I guess she finally got sick of being accused of it and finally did bite him. But when he told on her she said "No, I just did this" and showed me what she did. Yeah Bryn, that is biting was my reply. I guess she was honest even if she was confused. I will be glad when this stage is over. Although I'm sure they will eventually reach the stage where they keep secrets from me and I'll have to pry info out of them.
