Kite Flying

The weather on Tuesday was so nice. There was a little wind so I decided to take the kids to fly kites after school. I really did have good intentions. But as always that is not how things turned out. We went over to Cherry Hill Park because it is always windy there and it's the perfect kite flying park (i.e. no trees or power lines). But the ground was still a little soggy. Brynlee stepped into a puddle and started to freak out. Instead of moving and getting out of said puddle she just stood there and screamed. Kylee stepped in dog poop (good thing the ground was wet and washed it off) and Price kept trying to boss the girls. But as I look at the pictures it wasn't as bad as I thought. We did have a good time; a good little adventure.

Later that night we went to Chik-fil-A's kids night and the kids had fun playing in the bounce house, getting balloon creations and free ice cream. So it turned out to be a great day with lots of fun togetherness.

School Program

Last week Price had his yearly program at the school. They combined the Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades so the gym was packed. Half the kids were cats and the other half dogs. They were enemies at first, but at the end realized they could be friends. Very hartwarming (insert sarcasm). Luckily it was only 40 minutes long. I did see the guy who backed up into my car a few months ago. I also noticed that he made a quick exit after the program ended. He must have seen Jer. Little does he know that he should fear me more than Jeremy.

Price and his friend Denver. They already took their dog ears off, but they still have their noses painted.

On Friday we had the missionaries and our friend Gena over for dinner. Elder Cannon is leaving this week and it was our last dinner with him. Gena is like our subsitute Grandma since ours are so far away. She always cracks me up. We went to pick her up and on the way home Kylee kept giving her raspberries. Kylee loves Gena. They have birthdays a few days apart and Kylee is always teasing Gena.

We've been trying to stay busy with no school last Friday and none tomorrow I may go crazy. Price and Bryn just get too much together time. Too bad the weather's not nicer and I could make them play outside. We might have to search out something to run them ragged tomorrow.

Random Pics

Everytime I turn on my camera I find random pics that the kids took. They take pictures of the strangest things, but sometimes it's funny to see the world from their point of view.

They are all of Kylee, but she is so stinkin cute I couldn't resist.

crafting

I think something may be wrong with me. Last week I did some crafting (gasp!). Normally I hate doing crafts. Probably because I'm not very creative and they always end up looking like some bad grade school art project. But I don't have any St. Patrick's day stuff and I wanted some festive decore to hang up for March.

Last year I bought some fabric intending to make something with it, but I never did. So luckily I had all the stuff on hand I needed and was able to make a few decorations for the house without having to buy anything else.

Other happenings:
Price had his parent/teacher conference this last week. It sure is great to go and hear someone else brag about my kid. He's doing excellent and has met all the requirements for passing the first grade. Thankfully he has a great teacher that is challenging him and finding things to keep him busy.

On Friday I helped a friend paint her basement. Luckily I was doing a light color because my paint skills are severly lacking. But the kids played great and were not in our hair at all. Then we went to the church to watch 'Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restoration'. It was good (the part I saw). Kylee started fussing and then I was helping to set out treats. But we had a fun night as a family.

On Saturday night our ward had a fundraiser for another church down the street from ours. Gospel Tabernacle Church has a leaky roof so we did a bake sale auction to help them raise money to get it fixed. First we had a chilli dinner then some members of their congregation sang for us. The church was a rockin'. It was pretty funny, but they sounded great and they were all very nice. They were able to raise over $3500. It was a fun night, I'm glad I got to go. I guess the auction was pretty lively. I only saw part of it, I was helping to wrangle kids then we left early.

More Utah

Price outside the Conference Center. He's such a boy!

It wouldn't be a trip to Grandma & Grandpa's without a super messy treat.

Grandma hanging out in her apartment.

Taking a bath at Grandma's. They only have a shower so we had to make a makeshift bathtub.

So the wedding was on Saturday. And I didn't get any pics of it. I know, what a slacker. But in my defense I was taking Jessaca and Nick's stuff to the car after the wedding and bringing back the bouquet. At the reception my kids were wild (shocking I know). Kylee was crying and the other two were clinging to me. Jeremy was off getting forks and whatever else was needed for the reception.

The sealer said some great things. He talked about the 5 C's of a marriage. 1-commitment 2-courtship 3-concern 4-communication 5-consecration. He talked for quite a while. Some great advice was given, glad we were there.

We went to the reception, but it was crowded and my kids were crabby so I took the girls and went home. Jeremy and Price went to the Sizzler with the Gerber side of the fam and had a great dinner.

On Sunday we went to church, said good-bye to the fam and headed home.

The drive was a little snowy. But between Rawlins and Laramie, WY it started to get bad. We stopped in Laramie for dinner and talked to a guy heading west. He said it was snowy and icy on the way to Cheyenne. So we decided to stay the night in Laramie and head home on Monday. We got up on Monday to find that I-80 was closed. UGH! So we waited around most of the day hoping it would open. But by 3 it still hadn't and we didn't want to spend another night in Laramie. The guy at the hotel's front desk told us about a road from Laramie to Ft. Collins, CO. So we took that and it was pretty bad for the first little bit, but we crossed the mountains into Colorado and the weather was perfect. We drove down to Denver and then east to Kansas City and then home. It took FOREVER, but luckily we made it home safely.
The only other thing that happened was with Kylee. All weekend she'd had diarrhea. It would get a little better and then get a little worse. On the way home it got a LOT worse. As we were going through Ft. Collins she had projectile vomit everywhere. Luckily we were near a gas station and could get everything cleaned up. I was trying to think on the bright side to keep myself from falling apart.
We finally pulled into Cedar Rapids on Tuesday morning just after 8 am. And being the mean mom I am I made Price get a shower and head off to school. But boy was our van funky smelling. Between the puke, the poop, the B.O. and all our travels it was smelling pretty ripe. But now we are home and settled. The laundry is done and I'm finally catching up on all my sleep.

Trip to Utah

Kylee is such a ham. She loves putting on shows and being the center of attention. I just want to squeeze her cute little face. I love her guts, so glad I'm her mom!

We went out to Utah last weekend for Jeremy's sister's wedding. We left Thursday night and drove through the night. It went really well. The roads were clear, no snow, and we only had to stop a few times for potty breaks. We were really lucky; we couldn't have asked for a better trip out there.
We got to Utah on Friday morning. We stayed with my parents in SLC (they're on a mission there). So first we stopped by their apartment to drop off our stuff and to have some lunch. They live up above the capitol in a basement of a house. It's pretty nice and luckily they have enough room for us.
We then went over to the church where the wedding reception was going to be. We helped decorate and get things ready for the next day. Luckily Jessaca had some friends to help and some of her aunts. It was a big job and took quite a while. Later that afternoon we went over to the COB (Church Office Building) to see where my parents are working. We then went over to temple square, but the kids were a little wild so we didn't stay long. They wanted to run around and ride the escalator.

We were parked under the Conference Center and as we were leaving I saw my parents car. So of course we had to prank them; thankfully I have prankable parents. We left a note on their car that said "You left a big dent in my door. I have your license number and will be contacting the authorities. Unless you call me at 801-564-". Then I made it look like the number had been ripped off. Because I didn't want them trying to call some fake number.
So we swore the kids to secrecy and went home. I was totally expecting them to come home laughing and knowing that it was us. I mean we were parked right by them and I figured they'd recognize my hand writing. But they came home and didn't say a word. Price kept whispering to me about it, but they never mentioned it. Later that night I finally came clean. I guess my mom and had been so worried, but my dad told her to chill out. There wasn't much they could do about it. Thanks mom and dad for being good sports!
My sister Erin came up that night to stay so we got to see her too. She's into Crossfit and is on a team in Salt Lake. I don't get to see her too often, but was glad we ended up being there on the same weekend.

Brynlee is off at a friend's house, Kylee is asleep, Price is at school and the house is pretty quiet. I guess I don't have any excuse not to update what's been going on with us.

The other day Kylee wouldn't take a nap. So of course at about 4:30 she was a bear. She wanted to go put her pajamas on so I helped her undo her dress and I assumed she was going to change. But I guess she didn't make it too far. The walk must have been trecherous. She only made it to the living room before she fell asleep on the bean bags. Good thing she is so adorable.

A few weeks ago Brynlee had her friend Grace over to play. They were dressing up and putting on a show for me. These two girls are so alike sometimes it's funny. They play great together and it's nice for Bryn to have a fun friend to play with.

Jeremy and I got to go on a pre-Valentine's date last Saturday. We went to Red Lobster and had lunch. We saw a turkey cross the road on the way there. Kind of random, but actually true (it almost sounds like the start to a bad joke). But we had a great meal and then came home and had some quiet time while the kids played with some friends. It was a great, relaxing day. We need to do that more often.
