Random pics

The other day Kylee put on shorts (as usual), but I told her it was too cold for shorts and that she needed to go put on pants.  And this is how she came out of her room.  I guess technicall she did what I asked.  Sometimes I wish she had a sign that said "I dressed myself, I would not let my mom help me".  then people would understand why she looks the way she does.

The girls love getting their pictures taken.  Here they are in their jammies with their stuffed animals.
We've had a fun, busy week.  On Tuesday we went to "Family Club" at the school.  We had dinner (lasagna, salad and breadsticks).  Then we played the boardgame Sorry! After that we went into the gym at jumped roped, hula hooped, played basektball and dodgeball.  It was such a fun night and the kids were tired when we got home and went right to bed.  A successful night.

The kids had their Parent/Teacher Conferences this week.  They are both doing really great.  Price is rocking it in math and is really well behaved at school.  I guess that's why he lets loose at home; he holds it in all day and goes wild once he's home.  Brynlee is doing great too.  She's reading on a first grade level and learning a lot.  We were afraid that she was being too quiet at school and not talking or making friends.  Her teacher assured us that she is well like and very chatty.  She actually has gotten in trouble a few times for talking too much.  Is is bad that I'm not mad about that, but actually happy that she is being social?

They've started this new program at the YMCA called Livestrong.  It's for cancer survivors and is getting them back to working out and increasing their fitness.  I trained a in September to become an instructor.  The first class started this week and I am volunteering to help with it.  So Friday I went and helped while they were doing their fitness assessments.  It's just testing the participants to see where they are physically as the program begins.  We also had a speaker come talk about breathing.  She is a yoga instructor and came and showed different breathing techniques; like calming breaths, energizing breaths, etc.  It was really interesting and helpful.  I'm excited to help with this new program and hopefully in the future will get to actually be one of the instructors.

After Livestrong Jeremy and I had a date night.  I know, miracle of miracles we actually went out to dinner by ourselves and had a great time.  We went to Parlor City.  It's down by the New Bo Market.  It's an area of town that is slowly coming back since the flood.  There are a few restaurants/bars there and we had to park a few blocks away.  But the food was pretty good.  We had fried pickle spears (my new fave) and a cheeseburger where the cheese was in the middle of the burger.  The only bust was the "frips".  We thought they'd be like waffle fries, but they were just homemade potato chips.  But they came with a yummy french onion dip.  We also had some VIP seating.  we were right by the kitchen and the bathroom, not the most ideal seats, but it was a fun night out.

Halloween

It's about time I put up our Halloween pictures.  Man, I'm behind.

We had a really fun Halloween.  Gena came over for dinner.  We had mummy dogs, gooey eyeballs and vampire blood.  Then we took the kids trick or treating while Gena stayed here and passed out candy.  It was fun to be able to go as a family.  We can finally wait on the side walk for the kids while they run up to the doors.  It's nice to have kids that are getting older and able to do more for themselves (and to help around the house too!)

Kylee is a dragon.  Brynlee was a fairie, Kinnick was a cowboy and Price was an army guy.  Love those serious faces he makes.

Carving Pumpkins

Since the pumpkins at Bloomsbury were ridiculously priced and rather large we decided to go to Wal-mart instead.  What would a Hodson family fun day be without a trip to Wally World?  So we got some reasonably priced pumpkins andd went home to carve them.

The kids drew the faces on them and Jeremy and I carved them out.

Bloomsbury Farm

We went as a family out to Bloomsbury Farm on Saturday.  It was fun, but it is a HUGE money trap.  It's a farm/pumpkin patch about 30 min from out house.  It's $11 per person to get in, but then they charge you extra for all the fun stuff like the zip line, the pumpkin shooter and the haunted corn maze.  Luckily we had discount tickets from the school otherwise we would have gone broke.

Anyway, it was a tad bit chilly, but otherwise it was a fun day.  We started off on the giant pillow trampoline, but that didn't last long.  Somebody puked so they had to clear it off and clean it up.  And you don't really want to be the first one to get back on it.

The kids loved riding around the track on these giant 4 wheeler bikes.  Brynlee was cruising around, she was loving it.
They even had a Kylee sized tryke.  She needed lots of pushes, but she had a good time.
What fun family pick.  I love Price's face-I don't think we'll ever get a pic of him with a serious face.
 Riding on the horse swings.
Kylee buried in the corn.  They  have a "corn box".  It's like a sand box, but with corn instead.  The kids loved it, I am still finding pieces of corn all around the house.
We went on a hayrack ride, saw some pig races, played on a giant slide and had a really fun time.  I just wish it had been about 10-20 degrees warmer, then it would have been the perfect day.

Brynlee kept begging to go in the "haunted house" (it was really more of a fun house).  Jer wasn't too sure, but he finally relented and took her.  She loved it!  She went about 3 or 4 times.  There wasn't anything really scary; just some plastic heads dangling from the ceiling.  The worst part was walking through the spinning tube.  I was carrying Kylee and trying not to fall over.

Yeah for fall! It was a fun trip to the country.

On Saturday night we had the annual Road Rally.  This year we were in charge of it along with our friends the Andersons.  The theme was The Avengers.  We had about 12 people show up for it; pretty good, wish more would have come.  But it's a big scavenger hunt around the city.  I think everybody had fun.  I'm just glad it's done so I don't have to keep planning and getting everything ready for it.  At the end we ended up at a house of someone from the other ward.  We had treats and hot chocolate and got to hang out.  It was fun to have a night out with our friends.
I'm excited for next year when we actually get to play instead of plan.  The team that comes in first has to plan it for the next year.  So while it is fun to come in first; you don't want to.

school Halloween Party

The kids' school had it's annual Fall Festival on Friday night.  Kylee was a giraffe/fairie.  Price was a vampire and Brynlee was a fairie.
At the school we ate pizza, went trunk or treating, did the cupcake walk, played games and got their picture taken.  It was the perfect amount of stuff for the kids.  They got some candy, had some fun and it didn't last all night.  A great night of fun.

The girls absolutely love our friends' daughter Liah.  They think she is the greatest ever.  She is so patient and sweet to them too.  They are a bunch of cute fairies

Gary's birthday

Gary is a boy in our ward that has for some reason taken a liking to coming over to our house.  He's helped us with yard projects, played the Wii with Price and just hung out with us.  The deal we made with him is that if he comes to church on Sunday he can come over for dinner afterwards.  He tried a couple of times to say that he was too sick to come to church, but he was well enough for dinner.  Thus we made the new rule.
Anyway, he turned 14 last week so we decided to have a special birthday dinner for him.  We asked him what he wanted for his birthday and he said army men.  He and Price were pretty excited to play with them.
He's a really well mannered kid.  We're glad to have him over.  He provides some comic relief for us.  He's finally learned my name (it took him a few weeks) now everytime he sees me he says "Hi Lynnette".  He's a crack up.
For dessert he requested banana pudding.  Now what I would have chosen, but he loved it.

The other night after baths the girls were both wearing pink leotards.  They wanted me to take their picture since they were "twinners".
And since I was taking their picture Price needed his taken too.  Yet again with those funny faces.  He's started doing wrestling.  He's liking it a lot and it is so fun to watch him.  He makes the funniest faces ever!  He gets so into it.  He's doing it through the city rec and the coach is perfect for those boys.  It's a bunch of 6-8 year old boys and that have way too much energy.  He gets them to listen and do the drills which is not an easy task.  Price has learned the different stances and a couple of take down moves that he tries to do on Jeremy or his friends-so watch out!

Loose Tooth and new Dog

Price has finally, FINALLY lost his first tooth.  He first noticed his tooth was loose back in August.  I thought he'd be like me and wiggle it like crazy until it fell out.  But aparantly not, because it was the middle of September before it fell out.  It was so loose and he wouldn't let me or Jeremy pull it.  But finally it came out.  He wrote the cutest note to the tooth fairy.  It said that this was the first tooth that he lost and he was very excited.
The tooth right next to the other one was loose too.  Luckily that one didn't take as long.  The other day Price came to me and said that his tooth was really loose after he ate a cookie.  I asked to feel it and as I touched it (ok, maybe I pulled on it) it went flying out of his mouth.  So now he's had 2 visits from the tooth fairy and he's very excited.

Apparantly I have lost it.  Not only have we gotten a dog, but he's an indoor dog.  But look at that face, how could we resist?  Our neighbor, Donna, was fostering him.  He came from a puppy mill where he spent his life in a 3' by 3' crate.  He had the saddest look in his eyes and was really timid and scared.  He's around 3 yrs old and had never had any human contact so he's been a little skittish around people, but he's getting better.
The girls would see her walking him and would go with her.  They loved him and he was just the perfect temperment for them.  He was mellow and calm.  Well, Donna convinced us that we needed to have a dog.  She refuted any disputes that we had and we decided he'd be a good addition to our family.  It took a little convincing Jeremy, but now we love him and he's getting used to living with us.

He's a mix.  We're not sure exactly what; maybe some shih tzu and some bichon.  But he's adorable and he's slowly getting into a routine with us.  But he doesn't shed and we gave him a bath so he's not stinky so hopefully we'll be good pet owner's. Oh, and his name's Kinnick.  Kylee says it so cute-we were going to change his name, but somehow it's just stuck.

So this past weekend we've been getting used to having a dog around and watching Conference.  Today we have been battling sickness too.  Price has an earache (after being outside in the cold without a hat-he wouldn't listen to his mother), Brynlee has pink eye and Kylee has croup (I think) oh yeah and Kinnick is getting over an ear infection so he gets drops in his ears twice a day.  So just line everybody up for their spray down of Lysol.  Hopefully they'll all be feeling better tomorrow.  But I guess I'd rather they all be sick together and get it over with sooner.
