Ahh, sweet relief. It is Sunday afternoon and the Primary program is over. I've only been worrying about this for months and now it's all over. It went well, the kids did a great job. We really do have a great ward and the kids are so fun. Now I guess I get to start thinking about next year's and thinking of ideas of what to do. But maybe first I'll take a nap.
Whenever I put Brynlee in timeout she always calls out for Jeremy. It's pretty pathetic and also a little sad. Yesterday Jeremy was the one that told her to go to timeout and I took her there. Jer and I were both in our room and we could hear her crying something so sad and pathetically. It took a minute to understand, but then I realized that she was calling Jesus' name. "Jesus, Jesus". It was so cute and a little funny at the same time. I hope she remembers when she is older that she can always call on Jesus if she needs help.
Last night Jeremy and I got to go out on a date night. This doesn't happen often and it especially hasn't happened much since Kylee was born. So we got a babysitter for the older two and took the baby with us. We went out to eat and then went to Coldstone for ice cream. I know, it's like 10 degrees outside we must be crazy. But we realized that this month marks 9 years since our first date which was at Coldstone. Although I don't know why Jeremy took me there (the first time) because he hates Coldstone and he always complains everytime we go (even this time). But it was fun the remember our first date (he picked me up at like 9:30pm and later tried to tell a joke to me and my roommate, but it wasn't really THAT funny). We tried a new flavor, it was Fudge Brownie Batter (so Good!) It was also fun to get out and spend some time together. We got most of our Christmas shopping done too.
Now off I go to take a nap and enjoy the day.

Gingerbread House
After being snow bound for the past three days, it was very nice to get out and about today. Even if the roads were snow covered.
We got a ton of snow this week, combined with the wind it made it pretty trecherous here. But I guess this is Iowa after all so it should be expected.
As I shoveled the 12+ inches of snow off of our driveway on Wednesday I was thinking how mad I was at Jeremy for not taking a discount snowblower when he had the chance. And that he owes me big time for this. He got stuck up in Decorah all week and should (hopefully) be home tonight. We kept ourselves busy this week with movie watching, coloring pages for our nativity story and the kids playing outside (for short periods of time).
This is Kylee all bundled up to pick up Price from school. She is definitely an Iowa girl. Being bundled head to toe is a must. She hates just sitting in her carseat. As long as she is moving she is fine, but as soon as the motion stops this is the face she makes.

The kids all bundled up to go outside. Bryn is a little reminiscent of the little brother from the Christmas story. She did get stuck out in the snow on Wednesday and I had to go and rescue her so I guess the comparison fits.

I finally was able to go to the store and get the stuff so the kids could make their 2nd annual gingerbread house. Price is in a weird face mood lately. Everytime I try to take his picture he makes the oddest faces.

Brynlee was very slow and methodical about placing her candies. She wanted to make sure they were right.

Price hurried and slapped all the candy he didn't like on the house (gummy bears) and then ran to the corner to devour what was left.

A fun little tradition that lets the kids have some creative fun. Hopefully they will look back on this and think of it as one of their favorite traditions.
I learned this week that Price's stomach is a bottomless pit. I've been worried for the past few weeks that he hasn't been eating lunch at school. He comes home so hungry and keeps asking for snacks all afternoon. More than once we've had to talk to him about eating ALL of his lunch and not just the bare minimum. But since we've had 3 snow days I've learned that he is just plain hungry. He would eat his regular lunch and then want snacks. Last night he ate all of his dinner then ate 2 bowls of cereal. He must be on a growth spurt or else he's going to eat us out of house and home when he's a teenager.

Snow Day
We are bracing for the beginning of winter here. We've already gotten a few inches of snow and we are predicted to get another 6 to 12 inches tonight. Price had his first snow day. He seemed to like it a lot. He's been loving playing outside and sledding. Luckily it's not too cold so he can run off all that energy he has. So it looks like we're home bound for the next few days. But that's just fine with me, I don't want to be out on these nasty roads.
And of course Jeremy is stuck up in Decorah/Cresco because the weather is so gross. But I'd rather have him up there and not driving on these icy roads.

For the past few years my mom has started a new tradition for us. For all the Mondays in December leading up to Christmas she sends us packages for family home evening. In the past some of the presents have been a movie and popcorn, stuff to make our own ornaments, nativity costumes, etc. So last night we got to open our first one. It was a game called 'Book of Mormon Who?' It's like the game Guess Who, but with Book of Mormon characters. It took FOREVER to put together (one of those times I was really missing Jer). But the kids loved it, they made their own way of playing it and had a good time. A great new tradition that we love and hope that Grandma keeps doing this one for us!

Kylee is now 3 months. Can't believe that it's been that long already. She is starting to smile all the time. And she loves to chatter and talk all the time. Most times in the morning she won't cry, I will find her in her bed playing and talking to herself. She also goes to bed at night so well. Hopefully she'll keep on being so sweet and being such an easy baby. I was trying to get her to smile, but she was just looking at me like I'm the weirdest mom ever.

Busy Sunday
It has been one crazy, busy day. Not too relaxing, but it wasn't too bad. I'm just wishing I would have gotten my Sunday nap, but like my dad always says "You can sleep in the nursing home". So I guess I'll have to wait a few years before that.
We were practicing for the Primary program which is next week, but it just seemed a little chaotic and unorganized. Hopefully it will work out next week if the teachers are there for crowd control. Then after church Jeremy had to take his car in to get something or other fixed. He has to drive up to northeast Iowa this week and he didn't want whatever was wrong to cause him problems. I should have had a better attitude about it, but I felt it ruined our Sunday somewhat (and thus causing me to miss out on my quiet/naptime).
Then we went to an open house for our friends who are moving to North Carolina. It was fun to get together with most of the ward and to hang out, but we will miss the Oliveiras. After that we came home ate dinner, the missionaries came over and we fed them, picked up the car, and finally watched the First Presidency Christmas Devotional. Phew! What a busy day...All that and a few unruly children thrown in the mix. Price slapped one of the missionaries on the butt. If it's not one thing it's another. So we had to have a talk about appropriate behavior. Sheesh, whatever happened to the days when all I had to worry about was myself? That seems like a lifetime ago.
Anyway, I was asked to post the recipe for the cheeseball I brought to the open house. When I got the recipe from my sister it was add a little of this and a little of that. So this is the recipe as I did it for today. So if you want to adapt it with other ingredients you can, I won't tell.
Cheeseball
8oz package cream cheese
2 cups shredded cheese (I use the already shredded kind)
3 Tablespoons minced green pepper
3 Tablespoons minced onion
1 1/2 teaspoons Worchestershire Sauce
1/4 teaspoon pepper
First I whipped the cream cheese then I added all the other ingredients until well mixed. I dumped it out on plastic wrap and wrap it all up and then form it into a ball. You can also cover the outside in crushed nuts or chopped parsley to make it look more festive. This is a Price Family fave. We used to have this at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Plus anything with cream cheese has to be good.

Acura and Nativity
After many months of half-heartedly, with minimal effort we have finally sold our Acura. We debated should we keep it in case the Honda dies or should we sell it and get something else if the Honda dies. I guess it's not a question of if, but when the Honda dies. But who knows it may keep chugging on for many more years.

One of the main reasons we decided to sell it was because of how expensive it was to fix. The headlight went out and it was almost $150 to fix it. Ridiculous, so we didn't want anything major to go out and have to sell an arm and a leg to afford it. But as both my dad and sister so lovingly pointed out that is what you get when you buy a "luxury" car. Whatever....
I went to get Bryn up from her non nap the other day and this is how I found her. She had taken off all of her clothes ad put on her pj's. I guess it's better than being naked. When we went to pick up Jer she put on her dragon costume (at least it kept her warm). Such a silly girl..

Tonight at our church they had a nativity celebration. They have hundreds of nativities displayed from all over the world. We went and saw some high school's Madrigal group sing and had some treats. We went with our friends Cody and Joe. In the children's room they have costumes so I made everyone get dressed up and be in the picture. I don't think Cody or Joe were too excited about it, but it was fun nonetheless.
On one of the tables there was a book called Santa and the Christ child or something like that. It has a picture of Jesus and Mary and then Santa looking on. Price looks at it and then points to Santa and says "That's not a shepherd". It was so cute. I agree with him, Santa didn't belong there. Maybe it's a cute book though. We'll have to check it out.

He's DONE!!
Yay- Jeremy is finally done! He is coming home this afternoon and no more Dallas (at least for this year). He took his test and passed so now he has his Claims Certificate. You'll have to ask him what it means, I only know that if a bank fails he can help with whatever the FDIC does. Or something like that. It's been a long 5weeks, and we are glad it is over. Although I will miss watching Biggest Loser and talking to him during all the commerical breaks. I guess now we'll just have to watch it together in the same room.
This week went by pretty fast. I was able to get a few Christmas things done; Christmas letter done and mailed, scrapbook page for my parents done and mailed, made caramels and toffee. That's probably why I'm so tired. But it's better to keep busy than go crazy.
On Wednesday the YW in our ward had a free babysitting night. So of course I took them up on their generous offer. I dropped the kids off and went with a girl I visit teach to get hot chocolate. She's handicapped and so much fun. I love how she just tells it how it is; we had a good time. We went to Michael's so I could get a letter K for Kylee's room. While there I saw a lady shopping with her dog. I was a little surprised because I've never seen someone bring their pet into a store. I realize it was a little cold to leave it in the car, but I don't think you should bring it in with you while you're shopping. I'm all for having pets and loving them, but when you start to treat them like children that's where I draw the line.
On Thursday the kids got to color these ornaments that I bought at Michael's. Brynlee just woke up from her nap and was being a bear, that's why her hair is so wild. I'm trying to have fun little crafts for them to do to keep them occupied while it's so cold and to get ready for Christmas.

It will be fun to have these when they are older to remember when they were 4 and 2.
Kylee is finally off her antibiotic for her ear infection. She is such a happy girl, she just loves to smile. Now we just need to work on sleeping a little longer at night. She still likes to get up every 3 1/2 to 4 hours.
I almost forgot this cute story. This weekend at our church they are having a nativity celebration. They have hundreds of nativity displays set up and music and all sorts of fun stuff. We got some of the invitations and were taking them to people we knew. Price took some to his teachers. He was so shy about giving them that he just shoved them at the teacher and ran away. Later this week he wanted to say family pray and with Jer away it gets a little old with me saying it all the time. Price tends to ramble on and on, but then he prayed that his teachers would "come to his church on Friday". It was so cute, it just melted my heart. I realized that we really do need to have the faith of a child and he really strengthened my testimony of prayer even more.

Outfit of the day
I am all about letting my kids choose their outfits each day. On the rare occasion I may help them, but for the most part they can wear whatever they want. As long as it is season appropriate. Today Price came out in this getup.

It may be hard to see, but it's brown pants with a bright yellow shirt and his Christmas sweater on top. At least he has on clean underwear today, that can be a battle some days.
Yesterday when we took Price to school Brynlee insisted on wearing her clippy cloppy Princess shoes. Fine with me except it took her 10 years to just go from the car to the house. All in the name of self expression, right?
I figure I'll let them make as many decisions as possible and let them feel like they have some control in how things go. Plus it's just not worth the battle every morning. I guess I get this from my mom who let me wear whatever I wanted which usually ended up being some sort of dance costume or my swimsuit.
I was trying to rake some leaves today, but the wind was blowing. It felt a little counterproductive. I'm sure there will be more tomorrow that blow over from the neighbor's yard, but for now the yard is pretty much done.
